Free Piano Lessons

Guess what I got for Christmas: A Yamaha YPT-310 Digital Keyboard! I’ve always wanted to learn how to play piano, and now with an instrument to play on, there’s nothing stopping me. Well, there’s still the matter of how to go about learning the piano. What is something free and easy that I can do in my spare time? Just in case you were wondering the same thing, I’ll let you in on what I found.
If you’re looking for a step-by-step beginner’s guide, there’s GetPianoLessons.com. It’s simple, free, and separated into dozens of lessons, with videos included. There are also several videos available on Howcast, my favorite how-to site.
Looking for sheet music? If you’re looking for popular songs, the My Piano blog is a good resource. They’ve got “We Will Rock You,” and they even have newer songs like Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love.” If you’re a beginner like me and want something easier to play, gmajormusictheory.com has some easy sheet music to play. Last but not least, there’s 8notes.com. 8notes.com offers free sheet music, but it’s not easily accessible. If you want to print off a PDF, for instance, you’ll have to pay a $20/year subscription.
I’ll let you know how the piano lessons go for me. I’m hoping if I practice enough, I’ll be able to learn to play something like Coldplay’s “Clocks.” Maybe if I watch this video enough, I can learn it:
