Guess what I got for Christmas: A Yamaha YPT-310 Digital Keyboard! I’ve always wanted to learn how to play piano, and now with an instrument to play on, there’s nothing stopping me. Well, there’s still the matter of how to go about learning the piano. What is something free and easy that I can do in my spare time? Just in case you were wondering the same thing, I’ll let you in on what I found. Read More
A Year Later
Pitiful! Pitiful I say!
It’s been almost a year since I’ve updated my website. With the release of WordPress 2.7, I’ve decided to pay more attention to this poor little site.
I’ll try to update my site more often. I pay for this site’s hosting every year, so I ought to use it now and then, shouldn’t I? :P
By the way, what do you think of the new theme? It’s called Thematic. I’m hoping to customize this new theme and then update the rest of the site with the new look. How long that’ll take, that depends on how much of my free time I’ll devote to it. As for my free time, it’s currently being spent looking for apartments in Milwaukee, so until later, this is as much of an update I can do for now!
How to Get Math Support in MediaWiki
I’ve been playing with MediaWiki a lot lately. (It’s the wiki software that Wikipedia uses, if you didn’t know.) It’s a nice piece of software, but compared to something like WordPress, it’s fairly complex to set up. Getting math support on MediaWiki was especially difficult for me. It took me a while, but I finally figured out how to do it, so I thought I ought to make a tutorial for everyone else. This is how to get math markup working in MediaWiki on a BlueHost site. A Few Good Apps
Software just doesn’t come cheap these days. Photographers who want to utilize the power of the popular photo-editing software, Photoshop, must fork over $700 to buy a copy. Aspiring artists who want to create 3D graphics need to pay $3,500 for the extremely expensive 3ds Max. But fear not; there’s hope. Software may not come cheap, but it does (sometime) come free. Summer Updates
I admit it; my site has been pretty dead for a while. I’ve been busy finishing my junior year of college, working full-time at a web development company during the summer, and completing side projects for friends and myself. Being a webmaster for each of the student organizations that I’m a part of and taking on web projects from friends, I never devote enough time to my own website. But I’ve been slowly working at it, nonetheless. Staying in Milwaukee for the summer (instead of on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where I have less-than-stellar 56K Internet access) has helped give me more chances to update the site. The changes I’ve made so far have been somewhat subtle, but here’s a summary of what I’ve been doing: Read More
I’ve Been Busy
Wow, it’s been a while since I last updated this site. In my defense, I’ve been busy. Trust me: college gives me enough things to do.
I don’t know when I’ll have time, but I want to work on redesigning this site again. I’ve learned a few new things about AJAX and PHP. I’ve grown fond of Mootools, and I’m hoping to use what I’ve learned to spice up my site design. I’ve also gotten interested in game engines and graphics editors. Maybe if I have enough time, I’ll work on writing a game this summer. We’ll see.
Wii, Big and Small
MilkandCookies posted this a few days ago, and I thought I’d post it again, since it was pretty interesting.
